Atlas Shrugged – Ayn Rand
Following up the popular post of earlier this month, it was requested that I post the follow-up book to The Fountainhead. Fair warning, Atlas Shrugged is a LONG listen and likewise a long read. I’m posting this as both an audiobook, and a PDF. This way you can read along as you listen, or just read or listen.
Please comment on what you thought when you finish. If you agree or disagree with some aspect, comment. It should take you a while to get through the book, so those who have read it, comment first.
This book is one of the most important books ever written (kind of like all the books we post here). It shows the necessity of business and business people for society. It shows why the founders of the US said the following:
…we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
They also did these things to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…” Notice, they didn’t say to secure the blessings of liberty to everybody born here in the future, it was to themselves and their Posterity. They were selfish, in the best possible way. They created something greater than themselves for the purpose of themselves.
This book will explain not only why it was good, but why it was right. The philosophies of collectivism have always destroyed all they touched. Read the book with an open mind and you’ll start to see the world a little differently.
